Sony details PSN welcome back events

Sony has lined up a number of events to mark the PlayStation Network's long-awaited return to action earlier this month.

They come in the form of tournaments, competitions and hosted forum discussions for some of PS3's biggest games including Killzone 3 and MotorStorm Apocalypse.

"It's been a turbulent time over the past few weeks," the firm said on the PS Blog. "Hair has been lost, nails have been bitten and our routers have had a well deserved chance to cool off. We love online gaming, and we're seriously glad to have it back."

All of the planned activities can be found on the PlayStation Network events calendar, but here are some of the highlights.

Killzone 3 Live
Fight for your country against the EU PlayStation Community Team! Beat them on the Operations game mode within the fastest time in Europe and you'll grab yourself some awesome prizes. Details will be posted in our Killzone forum later this summer.

MotorStorm Racing Apocalyptic War
Get ready to smash and be smashed! Face 'Stormers from across Europe in this furious MotorStorm battle. Full details coming very soon to a MotorStorm forum near you.

ModNation Grand Prix
Be the best in races against your countrymen to grab a place in the European final. Beat the other regional champions and become the best ModNation Racer in Europe! Start eyeing up the competition in our ModNation Forum.
