Durango has 16-cores

Xbox World is reporting that the next xbow, codename 'Durango' devkits were sent to developers last month.
XBW's sources suggest the devkit is powered by a16-core IBM CPU with a graphics processor on par with AMD's Radeon HD 7000-series graphics cards.
A16-core processor would be a surprising addition, XBW explains: "It's a ridiculous amount of power for a games machine - too much power, even. But remember, Kinect 2 could chew up four whole cores tracking multiple players right down to their fingertips, so it'll need a lot of power."
XBW's sources claim that many developers showing their next-generation software at E3, "whether Microsoft and Sony are ready or not".
E3 is going to be insane.

Black Ops 2: release date leaked

None of this information is confirmed, but there's no reason it couldn't be genuine as it all sounds feasible. Here's the lot:
Leaked Black Ops 2 Multiplayer Information
- This year, Call of Duty will return with it's ninth installment with Black Ops 2. As expected it will be following Treyarch's previous game Black Ops. It's release date is set for the 6th of November.
- Escort, a new game mode similar to Search and Destroy however a live player must be escorted to one of three areas (or two depending on the map) without being killed. The match will have rounds, consisting of one life only.
- Drop Zone and Kill Confirmed will return
- Team Defender and Infected will not return
- Will follow from Modern Warfare 3's system
- Larger emphasis on objectives
- A bomb plant is worth 2 points
- A neutral flag is worth 1, however an enemy flag is worth 2
- flag assist capture is worth 1, a capture is worth 2
- The Specialist Pointstreak has be modified. 2 kills now gets you 1 perk. The 4th kill gets you 2 more perks. The 6th kill gets you 3 more perks. The 8th Kill gets you 4 more perks. You do not get every perk when you reach 8 kills. Perks only become "Pro" when you have them Pro
- RC XD will not return
- Heat vision is a new Pointstreak reward. When you get the required points, you can activate this Pointstreak and your player pulls out a scope and attaches it to your weapon. This scopes main advantage is it's ability to detect enemies through most walls. Note, the scope can only be attached to primaries not including shotguns
- Item Packages requires 5 points. Fall along side care packages and air drop traps. Features a list of package items only including ammo, mini gun, grenade launcher, rocket launcher, and body armor

- There will be 15 prestiges
- There will be 50 ranks
- Every two prestiges there is a 5 rank increase
- The final prestige has 90 levels
- ELITE is being fully incorporated into Black Ops 2
- Combat record has been modified and re-named as ELITE Stats
- There will be a specific lobby for clan matches (new way of leveling clans)
- Clan Tournaments can now be implemented
- No MOAB or Nuke
- No last stand
- No death streaks
- No flame thrower attachment
- Map design and size will be following Black Ops not Modern Warfare 3
- Improved sniper rifle usage.
- No aim assist for any sniper rifle.
- Less sway
- No longer just perk 1 chooses the players appearance
- Appearance is a combination of all perks and type of Pointstreak being used.
- Larger emphasis on hardcore than ever before
- No grenade launchers
- Only vehicle guided rocket launchers permitted
- Respawn timings decreased (for most modes)
- 1 bullet in the foot will no longer kill a person, a head or chest shot is usually required.
- A person will now bleed out if severely injured.
- The Perk Pro system has been upgraded
- There is now 2 options a perk can advance to.
- Both require different challenges to unlock
- Once the desired Pro version is unlocked, the player can select that as their "Perk Pro".
- Once selected, the only way to choose the other option is by entering prestige mode.
- For example Perk slot 1 has the perk called Speed
- Speed - Reduces the time taken to aim down the sight. Pro I - Swaps weapons faster. Pro II - Throws equipment faster
- Will be returning with vast improvements.
- Difficulty is no longer based on how long the bots take to start shooting.
- Bots now have an advance AI system
- Similar to the behavior seen in the MW3 Spec Ops survival
Durango coming in 2013, no disk drive

Microsoft's next-generation Xbox game console, codenamed "Durango", will arrive in 2013. More importantly, it is said to completely lack an optical disc drive.
The lack of a disc drive could mark a milestone in the evolution of console game distribution. Microsoft already has a high-volume digital distribution platform in Xbox Live, its significance in a post-disc console era will only increase.
This is not to say that Microsoft will completely do away with physical media, an interchangeable NAND flash-based media could also take shape, seeing how prices of NAND flash-storage has come drastically down over the past couple of years.
It would be a going back to solid-state game cartridges, for home consoles. Some portable consoles use solid-state media even today.

Valve Working On Steam Box

According to The Verge, Valve is working with hardware partners to develop and release a home console called the “Steam Box.”
Valve CEO Gabe Newell has said recently that “if we [Valve] have to sell hardware we will.”
But the Steam Box is not going to be yet another locked down propitiatory console. At its heart, the Steam Box will consist of a Core i7 CPU, 8GB RAM, an Nvidia graphics card and Steam client installed on Windows operating system. The system will be usable on computer monitors as well as TV screens thanks to Steam’s soon-to-be-released Big-Picture mode.
Interestingly, the Steam Box will be able to run all PC games, including ones that are sold through or depend on competing services such as Direct2Drive or EA Origin. The “console” will ship with a proprietary controller that features swappable components.
To make the system even more open, Valve will allow all interested hardware manufacturers to produce it without paying any licensing fees, Game developers won’t need to buy any new development kits to develop games for the Steam Box.
The Steam Box can be thought of as an attempt to standardize and unify a set of PC hardware specs so that game developers would be able to target. In other words, any PC that matches or exceeds Steam Box’s hardware specs will be able to play Steam Box games simply by plugging in a suitable controller through the USB port.
Aliens: Colonial marines gets it's boxes out

PS3, PC, Xbox 360 and er.. wii u

Aliens: Colonial Marines will have no HUD to provide the player with onscreen information.
Gameplay types have been described as "Gauntlet Runs", where players must fight enemies as they travel from point A to point B, and "Last Stand" moments, where players must defend a specific area by welding doors and/or setting up automated sentry turrets.
In Aliens: Colonial Marines players will gain experience points when killing enemies and completing certain objectives. These experience points will allow players to customize the appearance of their character, purchase upgrades for weapons, and unlock other skill sets. All of which carry over to other gameplay modes.

Along with being able to traverse different surfaces from any angle, Gearbox and Sega have also stated that the aliens' AI will use the environment to set up sneak attacks, and group tactics to overwhelm the player.
Not all enemies will be aliens as players will find themselves also fighting human enemies in the form of Weyland-Yutani commandos and mercenaries.

The Creation Kit offers the same suite of tools that Bethesda used to create Skyrim and will be a free download via Steam. The Creation Kit has lots of new features, including the ability to build archives.
With Skyrim Workshop, you can browse and search for the latest or highest rated mods, subscribe to any that interest you, rate your favorites and post feedback. Once you've subscribed to some mods, start the Skyrim launcher and you'll see your subscribed mods automatically download. The launcher will even check if a mod has been updated and grab the latest version, how cool.
Both the Creation Kit and Skyrim Workshop are coming soon. Stay tuned to http://elderscrolls.com/community for more details.

Mass effects edi gets a body and other nonsense

Well, I think we can universally decree Mass Effect 3 the worst kept secret in video games ever. It’s had a horrible string of bad luck. First, a demo that wasn’t supposed to be seen by everyone appears on Xbox Live and is there long enough for people to completely Play through it.
Then, people managed to get a rough draft of the script from that leaked demo. found here
Now, there’s another leak. It just so happens that The Art of the Mass Effect Universe artbook, which wasn’t due out until February 21, 2012, has landed in some fans’ hands and sensitive images have been scanned and uploaded online.

Half-Life: Origins (Live Action)

Half-Life Origins is an independent short by Infectious Designer.
Everyone remembers the first time they stepped onto the Black Mesa Transit System and into the shoes of the unexpected hero, Gordon Freeman. Half-Life Origins is a short film that takes you back to where it all began.
Director's Note: After 10+ years since it's release, if you ever go back and replay the original Half-Life, it doesn't look anything like you remember. The graphics are horrible compared to present day games, but years ago it blew my mind. This video plays with that contrast. I incorporated a fusion of live action and CG environments that give it a semi-realistic look, but also not realistic at the same time. Hope you enjoy it!

Gabe Newell talks about piracy

Gabe Newell has always been one to think outside the box, and over the years he’s received both praise and criticism along with a devoted PC following. In a recent interview with Cambridge Student Online, Newell got to talking about PC piracy again, and explained his views that the problems with piracy are to do with the services being offered as opposed to the price.
It makes it fairly obvious that companies like Activision and EA tend not to agree with Gabe, with more and more titles receiving elaborate forms of DRM and region locks, it seems like Valve are currently the only ones looking at the problem from a different angle.“We think there is a fundamental misconception about piracy. Piracy is almost always a service problem and not a pricing problem. For example, if a pirate offers a product anywhere in the world, 24/7, purchasable from the convenience of your personal computer, and the legal provider says the product is region-locked, will come to your country three months after the U.S. release and can only be purchased at a brick and mortar store, then the pirate’s service is more valuable.”
“Most DRM solutions diminish the value of the product by either directly restricting a customer’s use or by creating uncertainty… Our goal is to create greater service value than pirates, and this has been successful enough for us that piracy is basically a non-issue for our company.”
spawn unlimited dragons in Skyrim

Then hit enter, exit the console and a dragon should appear. If you want more than one you can simply hit the up key in the console to copy the last command.

Have fun.

Fancy a break from skyrim ? here's a nice space demo to try
Skyrim pc: the way you want it

This is why I play PC games: ini files. So the first thing I did in Skyrim was head to My Documents -> My Games -> Skyrim -> skyrim, to see what was in there.
Not a lot, as it turns out. The main tweak I was hunting, to change the FoV, has to be added rather than altered. But you can add “fdefaultfov=xx” without the quotes under the general section, replacing “xx” for your preferred FoV angle. 95 usually suffices for me, but you’ll obviously have your own preferences. Here’s the difference you can make.
EDIT: Apparently bringing the console down with the tilde key and typing “fov xx” works a bit better.
Before.

After.

I made that second 120 degrees to show how far you can take it. The next thing I did was head to the main Skyrim folder, nested within Steam > steamapps > common > skyrim. In the Data folder there’s a Video folder, and in there is the logo video that loads up when the game loads. I created a folder and dragged that into it to stop it loading every bloody time I start the game. Those seconds are precious to me, Bethesda.
Something you’ll also want to tweak if you have a reasonably meaty PC is self-shadowing, which means tall trees and the like cast shadows upon themselves – it adds rather a lot to outdoor scenes, making for a more integrated looking world. For this, you’ll want to edit SkyrimPrefs.ini: changing the 0s to 1s for Change bTreesReceiveShadows=0 and Change bDrawLandShadows=0.
If you’re experiencing mouse lag/over-smoothing, change the 1 to 0 for bMouseAcceleration=1 and add iPresentInterval=0 to the section marked [Display].
That’ll do me for now. But there are resources out there if you care about more general tweaks, or if you want to get a little more hardcore and want to enhance the graphics . I’d suggest you make back-ups of any file you alter, just in case.
